In her own words, comedienne Gilda Radner looks back and reflects on her life and career. Weaving together recently discovered audiotapes, interviews with her friends (Martin Short, Lorne Michaels, Paul Shaffer, Laraine Newman), rare home movies and diaries read by modern day comediennes inspired by Gilda (Melissa McCarthy, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Bill Hader and Cecily strong), LOVE Gilda offers a unique window into the honest and whimsical world of a beloved performer whose greatest role was sharing her story.
“Fame changes everything but it can’t change a light bulb.”
The name Gilda Radner may put a smile on the faces of people who remember watching her as one of the original cast members of Saturday Night Live (1975-1980) where she created and portrayed iconic characters like Rosanne Rosannadana, Emily Litella and Baba Wawa. This film is an intimate look into the joys and challenges that Gilda faced personally and professionally throughout her life, especially at the height of her fame on SNL. Our hope is that LOVE Gilda will inspire audiences to think about how, even when facing challenges, we still have the choice to enjoy the comedy of life.
